Red Hawk, Las Cruces.
Homes laid out around a desert golf course, with the Organ Mountains filling the east windows.

Living in Red Hawk
Red Hawk is built around the Red Hawk golf course in northeast Las Cruces. The draw is simple: green fairways in the desert, wide open sky, and the Organ Mountains straight east, which turn colors in the evening light.
The homes
Homes here are mostly newer single story stucco designs, with a mix of homes that back right onto the course and homes on interior streets. Golf course lots and lots with the best mountain views usually carry a premium, so two similar floor plans can price very differently.
Getting around
Highway 70 is close, which keeps the drive to Interstate 25 and the east side shopping areas easy, and it is a straight shot toward the mountains for weekend trips.
What to check before you buy in Red Hawk
- Whether a course lot has netting, a wall, or a view fence, and how close the nearest tee or green sits.
- HOA rules and dues, which can differ between sections.
- The direction the back patio faces. West facing patios get the full afternoon sun in summer.
- If it is a newer home, the builder warranty status and any open items from the original walkthrough.
Straight answers.
Do I have to golf to live in Red Hawk?
No. The course shapes the layout and the views, but buying a home here does not require a membership. Ask about any course related dues before you write an offer.
Do golf course lots cost more in Red Hawk?
Usually. Lots on the course or with clear mountain views tend to carry a premium. Juan compares course and interior lots on closed sales so you can decide if the view is worth it to you.
Is Red Hawk close to the interstate?
Reasonably close. Highway 70 connects the area to Interstate 25 in a few minutes.
